Is your produce chemical free?
White Pond Farm's produce is biologically grown free of chemical fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides. Soil fertility is built through the use of natural composting and organic fertilizers, providing the land with natural nutrients.
When insect pressure is high, we spray with organic pesticides. In addition, we plant flowers for beneficial insects that eat many of the insect pests. Instead of herbicides, we use straw and black plastic mulch for weed suppression. Vegetables are watered through drip irrigation lines that direct water to the roots and does not evaporate in the air.
Lastly. we encourage plant growth with Mycorrhizae fungus. Plants and Mycorrhizae have a symbiotic relationship. The plant provides carbon, lipids and sugars to the fungus. The Mycorrhizae fungus in turns attaches to the roots and provides the plant iron, magnesium, nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, zinc and other trace elements.
